Job summary

Housing Authority of County of Jackson, Illinois is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support safe, quality housing. The role involves semi-skilled to skilled repairs, preventive maintenance, and customer service for residents and staff.

The technician works under supervision with a focus on general maintenance, construction, and equipment upkeep while following HUD policies and safety guidelines. Overtime and on-call duties are possible.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of paid maintenance or related work experience.
• Ability to pass background checks and driver license screening.
• Ability to read and understand work orders and safety guidelines.
• Knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of maintenance tasks including painting, caulking, HVAC, electrical, plumbing repairs.
• Maintain cleanliness of units and common areas, including trash removal and housekeeping.
• Assist with vacancy preparation and timely completion of work orders.
• Provide courteous customer service to residents and respond to inquiries promptly.
• Maintain fleet vehicles and inventory records; report issues to supervisor.
