Job summary

Save the Children is seeking a Program Aide to provide educational, relational and social experiences for infants, toddlers and preschoolers within Head Start settings. You will report to the Education and Inclusion Manager or Center Director and may travel to program sites or home visits.

You will assist in classrooms, kitchen and janitorial tasks, and may substitute for teachers to support daily operations while upholding child-safeguarding and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification as applicable by Head Start or childcare regulations.
• Within 90 days of employment, obtain basic First Aid and pediatric CPR certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge of working with infants, toddlers and preschool children.
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Ability to relate sensitively with children and families.
• Ability to follow directions and take initiative.
• Maintain confidentiality of family information.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom staff in all classroom activities.
• Assist the Teacher in any program tasks (Family Nights, newsletters, calls).
• Serve as a temporary substitute when needed.
• Provide custodial support and kitchen-related tasks as assigned.
• Adhere to Head Start program standards and local regulations.
