Job summary

Barstow Community College is seeking journey-level HVAC technicians to install, maintain, repair, and overhaul heating, ventilation, and refrigeration systems across district facilities. The pool covers part-time, substitute, temporary or hourly assignments as needed.

Candidates should have strong knowledge of HVAC systems, read blueprints, perform preventive maintenance, and follow safety regulations. Travel between College sites may be required, and training of student workers is possible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; specialized HVAC training.
• 5+ years journey-level HVAC experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
• Experience with safety regulations and EPA refrigerants.
• Willingness to travel to multiple college sites.

Responsibilities

• Inspect heating, refrigeration, and air-conditioning systems for defects.
• Disassemble units and restore to operating condition.
• Repair or replace condensers, compressors, pumps, valves, motors, bearings, belts and other parts.
• Perform preventive maintenance on cooling towers and related equipment.
• Read blueprints and energy management system documentation.
• Train student workers and coordinate maintenance tasks.
