Job summary

Genuine Parts Company seeks a Field Service Technician to provide on-site service, maintenance, and repair for hydraulic and related equipment at customer sites in the Petersburg, VA area. You will diagnose issues, install and upgrade equipment, and communicate technical information clearly to customers and internal stakeholders.

The role requires a technical degree with 0–3 years of related experience, a good driving record, and the ability to work a 24/7 on-call schedule as needed.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a technical degree with 0–3 years of related experience.
• Ability to read hydraulic schematics and operate shop equipment safely.
• Strong verbal and written communication with customers and teammates.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site service, maintenance, and repairs for equipment and systems.
• Install, diagnose, repair, and support customer-installed equipment.
• Conduct technical analyses of product implementations and enhancements per customer specs.
• Keep customers informed about service status and recommended improvements.
• Work under supervision following guidelines to complete moderately complex repairs and installations.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical support and training to customers.
