Job summary

WSP is seeking On Call Field Archaeologists for projects across the southwest, Midwest, and southeast. You will assist in collecting, identifying, and compiling artifacts, observational and spatial data from field sites, and provide local technical support for cultural resources surveys related to construction and infrastructure projects.

You will follow safety guidelines, maintain concise documentation, and apply current archaeological methods.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in anthropology/archaeology or a closely related field; Archaeological field school or similar field experience.
• 5-7 years of archaeological or anthropology related experience.
• Experience leading field crews for Phase I/Class III pedestrian survey and shovel testing.
• Archaeological monitoring experience is a plus.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to convey findings to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, identifying, and compiling artifacts, observational, and spatial data from field sites.
• Maintain quality control standards for accurate measurement and documentation.
• Assist with basic professional archaeological work on site characteristics and preservation issues.
• Generate complete, accurate documentation using electronic systems and field notebooks.
• Follow safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.
• Apply current archaeological methods to assess potential impacts to resources.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Uphold company policies and code of conduct.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
