Job summary

WSP USA is seeking On Call Field Archaeologists for multiple projects across the southwest, Midwest, and southeast regions. You will assist in collecting and identifying artifacts, compiling spatial and observational data, and supporting field investigations tied to infrastructure projects.

You will follow safety guidelines, contribute to accurate documentation, and employ current archaeological methods while traveling to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in anthropology/archaeology or closely related field.
• Archaeological field school or similar field experience.
• 5–7 years of archaeological or anthropology related experience.
• Experience leading field crews for Phase I/Class III pedestrian survey and shovel testing.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, assist with collecting, identifying, and compiling artifacts, observational, spatial, and archaeological data from field sites for projects, investigations, and surveys.
• Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurement and documentation.
• Assist with performing basic professional archaeological work relating to cultural resources, verifying site characteristics and providing entry-level technical assistance.
• Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebooks.
• Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures including data and logbook maintenance.
• Utilize the latest archaeological methods, procedures, technologies, and techniques in studies and analysis of sites and potential impacts.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Travel to project sites as required.
