Job summary

WSP USA is seeking On Call Field Archaeologists to support multiple projects across the Southwest, Midwest, and Southeast. You will help collect, identify, and compile artifacts, and you will observe and record spatial data at field sites.

This role supports field investigations for infrastructure projects and environmental preservation, generating concise documentation and following safety guidelines. It may require travel to project sites and collaboration with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in anthropology/archaeology or related field and field school experience.
• 5-7 years of archaeological or anthropology experience.
• Experience leading Phase I/Class III pedestrian survey and shovel testing.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, identifying, and compiling artifacts and data from field sites.
• Maintain quality control standards for accurate documentation.
• Assist with basic professional archaeological work and site verification.
• Generate complete, accurate documentation using electronic systems and field notebooks.
• Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.
