Job summary

WSP USA is seeking On Call Field Archaeologists for multiple projects across the southwest, Midwest, and southeast regions. You will assist with collecting, identifying, and compiling artifacts and data, while supporting field investigations tied to infrastructure and environmental work.

Strong communication and teamwork are essential, with travel to project sites required. Ideal candidates hold an anthropology/archaeology degree and have 5–7 years of related experience, including supervisory

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in anthropology/archaeology or related field; field school or field experience.
• 5-7 years of archaeological or anthropology experience.
• Experience leading field crews for Phase I/Class III pedestrian survey and shovel testing.
• Willingness to travel to project sites across regions; ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, identifying, and compiling artifacts and archaeological data from field sites.
• Maintain quality control for measurement and documentation.
• Provide entry-level technical assistance on preservation and environmental issues.
• Generate complete documentation using electronic systems and field notebooks.
• Follow safety guidelines and site procedures; manage samples and location data.
• Use current archaeological methods and technologies to study sites and impacts to resources.
• Complete training on assigned tasks and adhere to company policies.
• Support ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources.
