Job summary

Stantec’s Environmental Services Cultural Resources Team in Southern California seeks on-call archaeologists to support fieldwork across Pasadena and other southern CA offices. The role involves pre-field planning, surveys, STPs, and monitoring with opportunities for office tasks and field-based travel.

Bachelor’s in Anthropology/Archaeology is required with at least 1 year of relevant experience; travel to multiple sites in a dynamic team environment is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology from an accredited university.
• 1-year minimum relevant experience (field school, internship, lab experience, CRM field work).
• Archaeological experience in California preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with pre-field planning, cultural surveys, STPs, test excavations, and monitoring of construction activities.
• Identify and document precontact and historic resources per state and federal standards.
• Prepare site records, forms, soil descriptions, maps, and photo logs.
• Use GIS tools and GPS devices with sub-meter accuracy for mapping.
• Conduct desktop records research and DPR 523 form preparation as needed.
• Support impact assessments and contribute to site significance evaluations.
