Job summary

Offshore Marine Group seeks an experienced 3rd Mate to assist the Chief Mate and 2nd Mate in controlling marine operations with emphasis on safety, maintenance, and environmental protection. You will report to the 2nd Mate and participate in routine safety, training, and performance assessment activities.

Expect duties covering navigation, vessel equipment maintenance, crisis response, and compliance with international regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Unlimited 3rd Mate License for home country/flag state.
• GMDSS license and Lifeboatman certificate.
• Knowledge of all technical calculations for safe marine operation.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Exercise control of safe navigation to ensure operations comply with policies.
• Assist with voyage planning and rig move operations.
• Provide assistance during anchoring.
• Maintain navigational equipment per SOLAS and regulations.
• Assist with maintenance of deck equipment and safety systems.
• Mentor and train crew; participate in performance appraisals.
• Promote safe and respectful work environment.
• Participate in emergency drills and follow emergency plans.

Skills

GMDSS License

Lifeboatman Certificate

Knowledge of marine calculations

Basic computer skills

Valid Unlimited 3rd Mate License

Education

High School Diploma / GED

Trade School or University training (preferred)

Military discharge - preferred
