Job summary

Centerline Logistics seeks an experienced Mate to serve as third in command of the tug and support barge operations across Gulf Coast and beyond. You will supervise deck crew, oversee safety, and assist in landings, mooring, and cargo handling while ensuring compliance with Coast Guard rules.

With a Coast Guard 200 GT Mate license and radar observer endorsement, you’ll coordinate with the Captain, train deckhands, and maintain charts, papers, and safety procedures in a dynamic offshore

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Mate Coast Guard license 200 GT near Coastal or Oceans with radar observer endorsement or higher.
• Tankerman PIC or Tankerman Assist, preferred.
• Previous experience as a Mate or Master of a tug hauling oil barges.
• Knowledge of Coast Guard and state transfer requirements.
• Completion of Coast Guard approved firefighting training.
• Must pass a respirator fit test yearly.

Responsibilities

• Stands wheelhouse watch with Captain and Chief Mate during operations.
• Oversees safety of vessel and inspections of equipment.
• Handles mooring lines and maintains navigation publications.
• Directs crew in assigning and completing tasks.
• Assists Captain with barge landings and signaling distances.
• Inspect and maintain vessel cleanliness and paperwork.
