Job summary

Breaking Ground in New York City is seeking an Office Manager to support day-to-day operations for the Housing programs. You will handle admin tasks, scheduling, data management, and client interactions in a fast-paced nonprofit setting.

The role focuses on bookkeeping, scheduling, note-taking, maintaining filing systems, and correspondence, while coordinating with program staff to ensure residents receive stable housing services.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years related work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to work with a diverse and special needs population.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Experience working with homeless/formerly homeless populations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and answer client questions.
  • Maintain facility and staff activity calendars.
  • Track vacations and attendance.
  • Maintain client data and files.
  • Keep an updated file of vendors, order and track supplies.
  • Answer phones, direct calls, and take messages.
  • Attend meetings and take notes.
