Description of Work

DEQ has an open opportunity for an Office Manager - Business Services Coordinator II.

This is an anticipated vacancy. This position is expected to be available on June 1, 2025.

It is full-time (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

This position, within the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), is located at the Asheville Regional Office, 2090 US Highway 70, Swannanoa, NC 28778. DEACS unit managed by this position ensures essential core functions and support to the programs located at this regional office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing positive customer service, processing critical correspondence, fiscal documents, and compiling reports for program staff and management.
  • Managing fiscal budgeting, procurement, fixed asset inventory, and facility management.
  • Supervising administrative support staff, including onboarding, coaching, performance evaluations, and discipline.
  • Partnering with Human Resources for recruitment and addressing employee relations issues.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The following are required to qualify:

  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Experience managing or being responsible for a budget.
  • Experience managing a facility or office.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or GED and five years of related administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. See oshr.nc.gov/experience-guide for details.
