Metro Water Recovery in Denver, CO - a nationally recognized leader among clean water utilities, provides wastewater conveyance and treatment services for 2.2 million people in the Denver Metro area.

At Metro, we help you be your best so we can do our best. You will join a team that offers stability, flexibility, and the opportunity to make a difference. We take pride in being part of an industry-leading team who serves the community by protecting the region’s health and environment.

About The Department

The Environmental Services (ES) Department plays a vital role in fulfilling Metro’s mission to protect the region’s health and environment by cleaning water and recovering resources. The department is responsible for a wide range of scientific, technical, and regulatory activities that support clean water operations and environmental stewardship. These responsibilities include implementing Metro’s Industrial Pretreatment Program; conducting sampling for compliance monitoring, Annual Charges, process control, pilot projects, and ambient stream, lake, and groundwater conditions; and performing laboratory analyses to support these efforts. The department also provides essential analytical, regulatory, and technical support services across the agency to help ensure water is clean and safe for agriculture, aquatic life, recreation, and water supply.

Why It’s a Great Opportunity

As the ES Department Coordinator, you will report to the Director of Environmental Services and will serve as a central hub within a fast-paced, mission-driven department. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities in a collaborative environment that values operational excellence. In this essential role, you’ll provide administrative and operational support that contributes to the department’s day-to-day effectiveness. You will assist leadership with scheduling, reporting, and coordination activities, playing a key role in supporting the success of Metro’s environmental programs. Metro offers competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and a workplace that values your contributions and supports your professional growth.

How To Be Successful In The Role

You’ll thrive in this position if you're detail-oriented, highly organized, and an effective communicator. Your success will come from your ability to provide coordination and administrative support for a wide range of departmental work including budget development and management activities, scheduling and planning meetings, developing and managing complex business processes and tracking and reporting systems. Because you’ll be handling sensitive and sometimes confidential information, a high level of professionalism and discretion is essential. Success in this role also requires a proactive mindset, a willingness to learn, and the ability to prioritize tasks for multiple groups with different operational needs. A high level of proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office 365 is essential, and the ability to build positive working relationships across teams will help you thrive.

Your Future In This Role

This is more than an administrative position—it’s a chance to contribute to work that directly impacts community health and environmental protection. Over time, you’ll gain deep insight into how Metro supports sustainable water recovery and regulatory compliance. As you build strong relationships and develop a thorough understanding of department operations, opportunities for growth and advancement will follow. Join us in supporting the professionals who protect our region’s health and environment by cleaning water and recovering resources every day!
