Job summary

Nippon Express USA is seeking a detail‑oriented Logistics Assistant in Long Beach. The role involves assisting with transloading and project cargo, coordinating trucking and freight activities, and supporting import documentation and billing processes.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, familiarity with MS Word/Excel, and knowledge of international trade concepts. A flexible schedule including weekends may be necessary, with comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate or significant or relevant or appropriate working experience.
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel; Lotus Notes and AS/400 experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of international commerce including sales terms and customs regulations.
• Familiar with Consolidator systems and DOT, ICC regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist transloading and project cargo: e.g., PECNA, Yazaki, TSMC.
• Coordinate truck company management, rate setting, safety audits (DOT, MC#).
• Handle job assignments as directed by Team Leader.
• Provide support for import documentation and general business tasks.
• Prepare import shipments including customs clearance, shipping, labeling, and distribution.
• Coordinate pickup and delivery orders with carriers to optimize shipments; data entry and filing.
• Issue freight bills and pursue unpaid invoices within credit terms.
