Job summary

ARI Shipping Corp. is seeking an experienced Ocean Import/Export Coordinator to join our ocean operations team.

This hands-on role manages international shipments from origin to delivery, handling RO/RO, breakbulk, and project cargo with a focus on accuracy and customer service. You will coordinate with carriers, terminals, agents, and customers, prepare documentation, book carriers, and monitor schedules and releases while ensuring compliance and timely invoicing.

Qualifications

  • Prior international freight forwarding operations experience.
  • Strong ocean export operations experience.
  • Hands-on RO/RO (Roll-on/Roll-off) experience.
  • Experience beyond standard FCL/containerized freight.
  • Experience with project, breakbulk, heavy equipment, machinery, or other specialized cargo.
  • Ability to independently manage international shipments and operational files A-to-Z.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot shipment issues and take ownership through resolution.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, carriers, vendors, overseas agents, and internal team members.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate international ocean export and import shipments from origin through final delivery.
  • Manage RO/RO, breakbulk, project cargo, heavy equipment, machinery, and containerized shipments.
  • Coordinate cargo movement with ocean carriers, truckers, terminals, warehouses, overseas agents, vendors, and customers.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain accurate international shipping documentation.
  • Make carrier bookings and monitor cargo movement, schedules, deadlines, and releases.
  • Coordinate export customs clearance and related documentation.
  • Serve as the dedicated point of contact for assigned customers.
  • Provide proactive shipment updates and responsive, high-touch customer service.
  • Troubleshoot documentation, transportation, carrier, customs, terminal, and delivery issues.
  • Review and approve vendor bills for accuracy.
  • Monitor shipment accruals, costs, customer billing, and other file-level financial details.
  • Ensure required customer payments are received before cargo is released.
  • Maintain organized and accurate shipment files from start to finish.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with assigned customers.

Job description

ARI Shipping is an established international freight forwarder with approximately 40 years in business. We specialize in providing high-touch, personalized service for customers moving international freight, including boats, agricultural and forestry machinery, heavy equipment, project cargo, and other specialized shipments.

We are looking for an experienced Ocean Import/Export Coordinator to join our ocean operations team. This is a hands-on, A-to-Z operations position for someone who understands freight forwarding, communicates exceptionally well, stays organized, and can independently manage customer accounts and complex shipments.

What You’ll Do
  • Coordinate international ocean export and import shipments from origin through final delivery
  • Manage RO/RO, breakbulk, project cargo, heavy equipment, machinery, and containerized shipments
  • Coordinate cargo movement with ocean carriers, truckers, terminals, warehouses, overseas agents, vendors, and customers

What We’re Looking For
  • Prior international freight forwarding operations experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Export customs clearance experience
  • Breakbulk and project cargo experience
  • Experience shipping boats, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, forestry machinery, or similar cargo
  • Experience with shipment billing, accruals, vendor invoices, and file-level financials
  • Spanish language skills (not required but a strong plus!)
