Job summary

DHL Global Forwarding in Chicago is seeking an Ocean Export Supervisor to lead the local Ocean Export product team, overseeing Operations and Customer Service. You will drive performance, set KPIs, and ensure quality and regulatory compliance for end-to-end ocean shipments.

The role requires 4+ years in freight forwarding with some supervisory experience, plus a Bachelor’s degree. Strong communication and Microsoft Office skills are essential for success in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of freight forwarding experience required.
• 1+ year of supervisory/leadership experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/qualification.
• Basic knowledge of CargoWise system is preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership ability to drive KPIs and coach staff.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Manages, oversees, and performs supervisory tasks to direct end-to-end Ocean Export processes.
• Serve as escalation contact for customer Ocean Export shipments; manage financials and KPIs.
• Ensure safety, security, and compliance for shipments and staff.
• Collaborate with internal groups for seamless customer service and improve processes; support sales in meetings and calls.
• Review month-end reports, P/L, and AR/AP; escalate carrier issues as needed.
