Key Responsibilities
- 1. Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with ocean carriers and freight forwarders in the U.S. market, building a reliable network of commercial partners.
- 2. Negotiate freight rates, space allocations, payment terms, and service arrangements based on business needs and shipment volume.
- 3. Develop freight forwarder sales channels and identify new business opportunities, including recurring shipment opportunities and broader logistics cooperation.
- 4. Understand customer and partner requirements, including trade lanes, cargo volumes, shipment frequency, and service expectations. Coordinate with internal teams to prepare proposals and quotations.
- 5. Manage the business development process from initial outreach and partner qualification through negotiations, agreement execution, and operational handover.
- 6. Work with operations, customs, and customer service teams to support new accounts, address service issues, and maintain partner satisfaction.
- 7. Monitor market rates, carrier capacity, sailing schedules, and trade lane developments to support pricing decisions and identify new opportunities.
- 8. Maintain an active pipeline of prospects and partnership opportunities. Track commercial progress and work toward agreed business volume, revenue, and profitability targets.
- 9. Review existing partnerships regularly, identify opportunities to expand cooperation, and coordinate with finance on payment terms and outstanding balances when needed.
Qualifications
- 1. At least three years of experience in business development, sales, account management, or commercial partnerships within an ocean carrier, freight forwarder, or logistics company.
- 2. Strong familiarity with the U.S. ocean freight and freight forwarding market, including shipping procedures, freight rate structures, and capacity arrangements.
- 3. An established network of ocean carrier or freight forwarder contacts in the United States, with the ability to independently develop new relationships.
- 4. Demonstrated experience negotiating commercial terms and converting business opportunities into active partnerships or shipment volume.
- 5. Ability to assess customer needs, prepare commercially sound proposals, and coordinate with internal teams to deliver agreed services.
- 6. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English, with strong verbal and written business communication skills.
- 7. Strong relationship‑building, negotiation, and follow‑through skills, with a results‑oriented and accountable approach.
- 8. Must have valid authorization to work in the United States.
- 9. Must be available to work on‑site. Remote work is not available.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1. Experience working directly with ocean carriers on rate negotiations, space allocation, or service agreements.
- 2. Experience developing freight forwarder channels or managing logistics partnerships.
- 3. Familiarity with U.S.–Asia trade lanes and cross‑border e‑commerce logistics.
- 4. A track record of growing accounts, expanding partner networks, or securing recurring business.
