Job summary

Dimerco in New York is seeking an Assistant Manager - Ocean Operations to lead daily ocean import/export activities and drive efficient, compliant execution. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet service targets and customer expectations.

Ideal candidates bring 6–8 years in Ocean Operations at NVOCC/Freight Forwarding, plus 2+ years in a supervisory role; Mandarin is a plus. Salary is based on experience with strong growth and global exposure offered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6-8 years in Ocean Operations at NVOCC/Freight Forwarding.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of ocean import/export operations, shipping documentation, customs procedures, and carrier coordination.
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, organization and multi-tasking skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; Mandarin is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Ocean Department Management: Lead daily Ocean Operations and ensure efficient, accurate, and timely import/export execution.
  • KPI & Operational Performance: Define and monitor KPIs for service quality, productivity, on-time performance, billing accuracy, cost control, and customer satisfaction; identify gaps and fix them.
  • Process Improvement & SOP: Review and streamline processes; develop SOPs for key accounts to ensure consistent performance.
  • Cost Control & GP Performance: Monitor costs and vendor expenses; identify opportunities to improve GP performance.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, SOPs, and regulatory standards.
  • Training & Team Development: Train and guide Ocean team members for operational competency.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 6-8 years in Ocean Operations at NVOCC/Freight Forwarding.
  • Minimum of 2 year is a Supervisory or Team Leader Role
  • Strong knowledge of ocean import/export operations, shipping documentation, customs procedures, and carrier coordination.

Responsibilities:
  • Ocean Department Management: Manage daily Ocean Operations and provide leadership to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely execution of import/export activities.
  • KPI & Operational Performance: Establish and monitor departmental KPIs covering service quality, productivity, on-time performance, billing accuracy, cost control, and customer satisfaction. Identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
  • Process Improvement & SOP: Monitor operational quality and continuously streamline processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Develop and implement SOPs for key and MNC accounts to meet service expectations and ensure consistent execution.
  • Cost Control & GP Performance: Monitor operational costs, vendor expenses, and cost leakage. Identify cost-saving opportunities and support initiatives to improve overall GP performance.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, SOPs, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Training & Team Development: Provide training and ongoing guidance to new and existing Ocean team members to ensure operational competency and adherence to company and customer requirements.
  • Customer Billing & Vendor Cost Management: Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of customer billing and vendor cost processing, including resolution of discrepancies and billing issues.
  • Business Planning & Budget: Participate in the annual business plan and operating budget process and support execution against departmental financial and operational targets.
  • Other Responsibilities: Perform other duties and assignments as directed by management and support strategic initiatives as required.
