Job summary

Creative Innovation Inc in California is seeking a results-driven Business Development professional to build and manage a network of ocean carriers and freight forwarders in the U.S. market.

You will negotiate rates, terms, and service arrangements, develop new channels, and coordinate with operations, finance, and customer service to deliver on growth targets. Qualifications

  • Three+ years in business development, sales, account management, or partnerships within ocean carriers, freight forwarders, or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. ocean freight, rate structures, and capacity arrangements.
  • Established network of U.S. ocean carrier or freight forwarder contacts.

  • Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with ocean carriers and freight forwarders in the U.S. market.
  • Negotiate freight rates, space allocations, payment terms, and service arrangements.
  • Develop freight forwarder channels and identify new business opportunities and recurring shipments.
  • Understand customer and partner requirements, prepare proposals and quotations.
  • Manage the business development process from outreach to negotiation and handover.
  • Coordinate with operations, customs, and customer service to support new accounts and satisfaction.
  • Monitor market rates, capacity, schedules, and trade lane developments for pricing and opportunities.
  • Maintain an active pipeline and track progress toward targets.
  • Review partnerships and coordinate with finance on terms and balances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with ocean carriers and freight forwarders in the U.S. market, building a reliable network of commercial partners.
  • Negotiate freight rates, space allocations, payment terms, and service arrangements based on business needs and shipment volume.
  • Develop freight forwarder sales channels and identify new business opportunities, including recurring shipment opportunities and broader logistics cooperation.
  • Understand customer and partner requirements, including trade lanes, cargo volumes, shipment frequency, and service expectations. Coordinate with internal teams to prepare proposals and quotations.
  • Manage the business development process from initial outreach and partner qualification through negotiations, agreement execution, and operational handover.
  • Work with operations, customs, and customer service teams to support new accounts, address service issues, and maintain partner satisfaction.
  • Monitor market rates, carrier capacity, sailing schedules, and trade lane developments to support pricing decisions and identify new opportunities.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of prospects and partnership opportunities. Track commercial progress and work toward agreed business volume, revenue, and profitability targets.
  • Review existing partnerships regularly, identify opportunities to expand cooperation, and coordinate with finance on payment terms and outstanding balances when needed.
Qualifications
  • At least three years of experience in business development, sales, account management, or commercial partnerships within an ocean carrier, freight forwarder, or logistics company.
  • Strong familiarity with the U.S. ocean freight and freight forwarding market, including shipping procedures, freight rate structures, and capacity arrangements.
  • An established network of ocean carrier or freight forwarder contacts in the United States, with the ability to independently develop new relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating commercial terms and converting business opportunities into active partnerships or shipment volume.
  • Ability to assess customer needs, prepare commercially sound proposals, and coordinate with internal teams to deliver agreed services.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English, with strong verbal and written business communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and follow-through skills, with a results-oriented and accountable approach.
  • Must have valid authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work on-site. Remote work is not available.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working directly with ocean carriers on rate negotiations, space allocation, or service agreements.
  • Experience developing freight forwarder channels or managing logistics partnerships.
  • Familiarity with U.S.–Asia trade lanes and cross-border e-commerce logistics.
  • A track record of growing accounts, expanding partner networks, or securing recurring business.
