Job summary

Total Care Therapy is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) to join our growing Ohio team. You will work alongside a licensed Occupational Therapist to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care focused on improving mobility and independence for residents in assisted living and independent living communities.

• Current State OTA License is required.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Experience in geriatrics, home health, assisted living, or skilled nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy treatments under supervision.
• Promote independence in ADLs/IADLs and functional activities.
• Monitor progress and communicate changes to supervising OT.
• Complete documentation and treatment notes in EMR.
• Educate residents and caregivers on safety and adaptive equipment.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team for coordinated care.
• Maintain a full clinical caseload with high-quality service.

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) to join our growing team. In this role, you will work alongside a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality, patient-centered care that helps residents improve mobility, increase strength, restore function, and maintain their independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist and according to the established plan of care.
• Implement therapeutic activities and interventions that promote independence with activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), upper extremity function, coordination, strength, balance, and cognitive skills.
• Assist residents in improving functional performance, safety, and independence through individualized treatment approaches.
• Monitor patient progress and communicate changes in condition to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Accurately complete documentation and treatment notes using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Educate residents and caregivers on adaptive equipment, energy conservation techniques, home safety, fall prevention, and strategies to maximize independence.
• Collaborate with Occupational Therapists and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
• Maintain a full clinical caseload while providing compassionate, high-quality occupational therapy services.

Qualifications

• Current State Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) License
• Current CPR/BLS Certification
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance
• Previous experience in geriatrics, home health, assisted living, or skilled nursing is preferred but not required
