Job summary

Total Care Therapy is seeking an Occupational Therapist for a part‑time role in Newark, OH. You will evaluate residents, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide OT interventions to enhance independence in daily activities and safety.

Responsibilities include supervising COTAs, documenting in EMR, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to improve care for older adults. Local travel and driving may be required.

Qualifications

• Current State Occupational Therapist (OT) license.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
• Experience in geriatrics, home health, assisted living, or skilled nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate residents and establish individualized occupational therapy plans of care.
• Provide skilled OT interventions to improve ADLs/IADLs, cognition, balance and function.
• Assess and recommend adaptive equipment and environmental modifications.
• Reassess progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
• Supervise COTAs in compliance with state regulations.
• Document care using the EMR accurately and timely.
• Educate residents, caregivers, and staff on safety and independence strategies.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team for coordinated patient-centered care.

About the Role As an Occupational Therapist, you will evaluate residents and develop individualized treatment plans that improve independence with activities of daily living, upper extremity function, cognition, and overall safety.

Responsibilities

Evaluate residents and establish individualized occupational therapy plans of care.

Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions to improve ADLs, IADLs, upper extremity function, cognition, balance, coordination, and functional independence.

Assess and recommend adaptive equipment and environmental modifications.

Reassess patient progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.

Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) in accordance with state regulations.

Complete timely and accurate documentation using the electronic medical record (EMR).

Educate residents, caregivers, and facility staff on adaptive techniques, home safety, fall prevention, and energy conservation strategies.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

Current State Occupational Therapist (OT) License

Current CPR/BLS Certification

Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance

Experience in geriatrics, home health, assisted living, or skilled nursing preferred but not required
