Job summary

Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast in Destin, FL, is seeking an Occupational Therapist for Rehab Services. The role involves assessing patient abilities, designing and implementing treatment plans, and educating patients and families. The position supports discharge planning and supervises therapy staff, with a focus on compliant care delivery.

Required credentials include BLS and Florida-credentialed OTR. A Bachelor's degree is required; Master’s or Doctorate is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's or Doctorate degree preferred.
• Registered Rehab Therapist (OTR) credential from the Florida Board of Occupational Therapy is required prior to hire.
• BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient’s ability to perform independent living skills and design the care plan.
• Implement the treatment plan, document progress and adjust as needed.
• Educate patient and family about deficits and discharge planning.
• Oversee therapists assistants and technicians according to regulations.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Assesses patient 's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills. Designs the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
• Implements the treatment plan using appropriate modalities. Documents findings of patient progress. Monitors and modifies the plan of care as needed. Seeks consultation as necessary.
• Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Oversees the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established regulations and practice standards.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

Required Credential(s):

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Rehab Therapist specializing in Occupational Therapy (OTR) credentialed from the Florida Board of Occupational Therapy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Bachelor's degree required. Master's OR Doctorate degree preferred.
