Job summary

Winona Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide therapy services at our Winona, MN facility. The OT will deliver comprehensive care, supervise students and COTA staff, and coordinate treatment across disciplines.

Hours run Monday through Friday, 7 am to 5 pm, with a 0.75–0.9 FTE commitment and a salary starting range based on experience. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s in Occupational Therapy, NBCOT certification, and Minnesota licensure or eligibility, plus BLS and a valid

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy curriculum.
  • NBCOT certification and state licensure (or eligibility) in Minnesota.
  • BLS certification and valid driver’s license are required.
  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and develop the plan of care.
  • Supervise students and COTAs; delegate to rehabilitation staff.
  • Document care thoroughly per policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other health professionals to coordinate therapy services.
  • Educate clients and caregivers on treatment goals and home programs.
  • Maintain productivity and participate in program development and quality improvement.

Occupational Therapist
0.75 - 0.9 FTE, 60 - 72 hours per pay period
Hours scheduled between 7 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday
*Starting salary between $69,617 - $87,027.20 based on experience

Position Overview:

The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides therapy programs for referred clients with developmental deficits, physicalinjuryor illness, and/or psychological or cognitive disability in coordination with other OTs, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA), and other health professionals. The OT evaluates and treats populations including orthopedics, neurological conditions, conditions that impact cognition, home safety and adaptations, and specialty areas including pediatrics andhand therapy. The OT provides direct patient care, including assessment, development of the plan of care, treatment, documentation, and patient education to clients of all ages. They direct patient participation, progression, and dischargefollowing clinical best practice guidelines to restore, reinforce, and enhance patient performance. Theyfacilitatethelearningofskillsandfunctionsessentialforadaptationandproductivity.TheOTisaccountable for productivity and personal, and professional growth.They shouldpossessthe skills to be adaptable to a dynamic team environment and open to the idea of developing, promoting, and performingnew programstofacilitaterehabilitation.The Occupational Therapistis responsible forstudent and COTA supervision and delegation to support staff.The role may include otherduties asassigned.

  • Documents all skilled and medically necessary care thoroughly,timely, and accurately per departmental policy.
  • Performs direct patient care and evidence-based practice in a safe, ethical, and legal manner.
  • Performs all duties within the scope of the occupational therapy practice guidelines.
  • Develops and revises a plan of care based on theinitialassessment, continual reassessment of patient/caregiver needs, patient history, diagnosis, physician orders, protocol, COTA feedback, expected outcomes, and the patient's needs and goals to include discharge plans asappropriate.
  • Evaluates patient response to treatment,measureschange and development, shares findings, and makesappropriate recommendationsand referrals.
  • Directs patient participation, progression, and discharge following clinical best practice guidelines to restore, reinforce, and enhance patient performance.
  • Documentation, charges, and care mustcomply withMedicare, State, Federal, insurance, and payor requirements and departmental policy.
  • Maintains patient and organizational confidentiality at all times.
  • Performs duties following departmental productivity standards. Independent in using time wisely.
  • Promotes service excellence with patient scheduling and accommodation with appointments.
  • Respondspositively tochangesinthe schedule and site of occupational therapy services.Usesunscheduled time to develop programs, complete projects, orassistthe department as needed.
  • Promotes theappropriate utilizationof resources.
  • Collaborates and consults with other health care professionals and shares gained knowledge. Delegates appropriately to COTAs and rehabilitation aides. Serves in a mentorship capacitytostudents.
  • Provides consultation to individuals, businesses, schools, government agencies, or other organizations byprovidingprofessional advice or opinion, recommending solutions, or producing a specific outcome.
  • Serves on departmental or organizational committeesasappropriate.
  • Deliversa high levelof customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Provides education and communicates treatment goals and methods to caregivers.
  • Fosters and promotes the occupational therapy profession; attends professional continuing education courses andhospital in-services.
  • Strive to master the skills necessary to exceed the expectations of the people we serve.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on facility needs and requirements.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy curriculum.
  • Certification with NBCOT and licensed or pending licensure with the State of Minnesota.
  • Ability todemonstrateappropriate clinicalskills and abilities.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • One year of clinical experience.
