Job summary

Northfield Hospital + Clinics is seeking an Occupational Therapist to conduct evaluations, develop treatment plans, and deliver therapy to patients of all ages. The role emphasizes collaboration with patients, families, and an interdisciplinary team to ensure effective, individualized care.

Educator and mentor roles are included, with opportunities to guide therapy students and peers. The department supports program planning and quality improvement within outpatient and inpatient settings.

Qualifications

  • Licensed OT with Minnesota board
  • NBCOT certification required
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers, basic life support
  • 1+ year of acute care experience preferred
  • Homecare, lymphedema or hand therapy experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients and set age-appropriate functional goals and treatment plans.
  • Provide discharge planning including equipment needs and community resources.
  • Develop and administer treatment interventions consistent with current practice.
  • Supervise and delegate care for support staff as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team on patient progress and program changes.
  • Present therapy information in care conferences and meetings.

Job description

Summary

The Occupational Therapist directs the assessment, treatment, planning and implementation of therapy services to patients of all ages, utilizing current knowledge, theory, evidence and sound clinical judgment. Works closely with the patient, family and other members of an interdisciplinary team to provide efficient and effective individualized patient care. Serves as an educator and mentor of therapy students, peers and other medical professionals. Assist with department and program planning.

Compensation

We are committed to providing compensation information for all open positions. This position has a flat hourly rate of $51.03, based on market analysis and internal compensation factors.

Key Accountabilities
  • Conducts an appropriate evaluation of the patient and develops age appropriate functional goals and treatment plan.
  • Provides timely discharge planning including equipment needs assessment, identification of community resources where needed and completion of home program/discharge summary.
  • Develops appropriate treatment interventions and provides treatment at a level consistent with current therapy practice.
  • Delegates and provides appropriate supervision of established plan of care to support personnel.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members regarding patient progress, response to treatment, goals and program changes.
  • Presents pertinent therapy information in patient care conferences and team meetings.
Qualifications
  • Licensed by the Minnesota Board of Occupational Therapy Practice
  • National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification (or obtained within six months of hire, company paid)
  • 1+ year of experience in acute care, preferred
  • Homecare, lymphedema or hand experience, preferred
Schedule
  • Varying days/shifts, with flexible start and end times
  • Required to work one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) per quarter
  • Weekday availability is not required, but additional shifts may be available to pick up if desired
