Job summary

Winona Health Rehab Services in Winona, MN is seeking an Occupational Therapist for 0.75–0.9 FTE (60–72 hours per pay period). The OT provides therapy programs and direct patient care for clients with developmental deficits, injuries or illnesses, coordinating with OTs, COTAs, and other health professionals.

Responsibilities include assessment, treatment, documentation, care planning, and patient education, with emphasis on outcomes, discharge planning, and inter-professional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy required.
  • NBCOT certification and MN licensure required or pending licensure.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Occupational Therapist

0.75 - 0.9 FTE, 60 - 72 hours per pay period

Hours scheduled between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday

Position Overview

The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides therapy programs for referred clients with developmental deficits, physical injury or illness, and/or psychological or cognitive disability in coordination with other OTs, Certified OT Assistants (COTA), and other health professionals. The OT evaluates and treats populations including orthopedics, neurological conditions, cognition‑impacting conditions, home safety, and specialty areas such as pediatrics and hand therapy. The OT delivers direct patient care, including assessment, program development, treatment, documentation, and patient education. The OT facilitates learning of essential skills and functions for adaptation and productivity.

  • Documents all skilled and medically necessary care thoroughly, timely, and accurately per departmental policy.
  • Performs direct patient care and evidence‑based practice in a safe, ethical, and legal manner.
  • Performs all duties within the scope of the occupational therapy practice guidelines.
  • Develops and revises a plan of care based on initial assessment and continuous re‑assessment of patient/caregiver needs, diagnosis, physician orders, and expected outcomes, including discharge plans.
  • Evaluates patient response to treatment, measures change and development, shares findings, and makes appropriate recommendations and referrals.
  • Directs patient participation, progression, and discharge following clinical best practice guidelines to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance.
  • Maintains documentation, billing, and care compliance with Medicare, state, federal, insurance, and payor requirements.
  • Maintains patient and organizational confidentiality at all times.
  • Performs duties following departmental productivity standards and uses time efficiently.
  • Promotes service excellence through patient scheduling and accommodation.
  • Adapts positively to changes in schedule and service location, using unscheduled time to develop programs, complete projects, or assist the department.
  • Promotes appropriate resource utilization.
  • Collaborates with other health care professionals, delegating appropriately to COTAs and aides, and mentors students.
  • Provides consultation to individuals, businesses, schools, government agencies, or other organizations.
  • Serves on departmental or organizational committees as needed.
  • Provides high‑level customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Educates and communicates treatment goals and methods to caregivers.
  • Fosters the OT profession; attends continuing education courses and hospital in‑services.
  • Strives to master the skills necessary to exceed expectations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on facility needs.
Skills and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy curriculum.
  • Certification with NBCOT and licensed or pending licensure in the State of Minnesota.
  • Demonstrated appropriate clinical skills and abilities.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • One year of clinical experience.
