Job summary

Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix seeks a Certified Patient Care Assistant to support the Observation Unit with short-term patient care and collaboration with RNs. The CPCA assists with daily living activities, vital signs, data collection, and documentation in the EMR.

The role emphasizes teamwork in a fast-paced environment, with a 7:00 AM–7:30 PM night shift and a weekend/holiday rotation. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is available for CNAs/LNAs in this unit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Current BLS certification is required.
• Current CNA certification in state of practice is required for new hires and transfers.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills are required.
• Medical terminology knowledge and computer literacy required.
• Experience with ECG interpretation or related testing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance in activities of daily living for patients.
• Collects vital signs and documents data in EMR.
• Reports changes in patient status to licensed professionals.
• Performs procedures delegated by licensed staff (e.g., blood draws, catheters, EKG).
• Handles receptionist/clerical duties to support departmental operations.
• Maintains patient records and charts, and orders supplies as needed.
• Transports patients and assists with pre/post-operative movements as required.
• Supports unit turnover and maintains equipment and supplies.
