Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking a Software Engineer II – Observability Engineer in Columbus, OH to design and deliver monitoring and observability solutions, enabling high-quality telemetry and operational resilience across Asset & Wealth Management Technology.

You will instrument services, standardize telemetry, build dashboards, and drive proactive insights while embracing AI-assisted development and secure coding practices within an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts with 2+ years of experience.
• Experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Monitoring, or Observability-related roles.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, JavaScript, or Go in a large corporate setting.
• Experience with observability platforms (Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Datadog).
• Knowledge of telemetry concepts: metrics, logs, traces, alerts.
• Cloud platforms and distributed systems familiarity.
• Hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools and secure coding practices.
• Understanding of responsible AI in engineering workflows.
• Exposure to CI/CD, resiliency, and security practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Configure, optimize monitoring and alerting to reduce noise and improve platform adoption.
• Instrument services and standardize telemetry across teams.
• Build and run observability solutions across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Deliver dashboards and analyses to understand user journeys and performance.
• Write secure, high-quality code with minimal guidance.
• Leverage AI-assisted coding tools and validate outputs through reviews and testing.
• Work within the SDLC toolchain to boost automation and value.
