Job summary

Va Physicians For Women is seeking a full-time Surgery Scheduler to coordinate and optimize surgical scheduling with area hospitals and the VPFW surgery center. This onsite role at the Midlothian office involves coordinating complex calendars, ensuring timely communication among patients, departments, physicians, and facilities.

You will handle preoperative and postoperative scheduling, maintain documentation, and address patient questions while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of surgery scheduling experience preferred.
• 4+ years in a medical office setting, including medical terminology and scheduling.
• Strong communication and professional demeanor in all interactions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgical scheduling with patients, internal departments, hospital schedulers and physicians.
• Schedule all preoperative and postoperative appointments related to surgery.
• Explain the scheduling process to patients and provide pre-op instructions.
• Obtain appropriate patient consent forms.
• Ensure all surgical orders are completed and available to appropriate parties.
• Generate electronic communications to patients (questionnaires, confirmation letters).
• Contact hospitals, insurance companies, and patients to obtain and confirm authorizations and specialist appointments.
• Cancel and reschedule surgeries with proper notifications.
• Maintain timely documentation for continuity of patient care.
• Perform other duties as assigned and maintain regular attendance.
