Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant in a full-time role within the OB/GYN department. The position requires rooming patients, collecting vitals, assisting clinicians, and performing routine and some complex lab tasks according to CLIA standards.

Candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, completed an accredited Medical Assistant program, and at least two years of clinical MA experience. BLS certification is required, with CMA/RMA credentials as a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program; DD214 in lieu of program acceptable.
• Two years of clinical Medical Assistant experience required.
• Current BLS certification; CMA or RMA certification via recognized body preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows department policies.
• Performs rooming/vital signs, med reconciliation, medical history and screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs venipuncture and lab tasks; handles POCT and CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines safely.
• Handles refills, authorizations, scheduling and referrals.
• Maintains a clean, stocked work environment and equipment.
• May assist with training of teammates and participate in committees.
• Demonstrates effective communication and teamwork; provides age-appropriate patient care.
