Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for the GCMG Copperfield OBGYN department in the Charlotte area. The role includes rooming patients, taking vital signs, medication reconciliation, reviewing medical history and allergies, and performing scheduled screenings, under OB/GYN guidelines.

The candidate will assist providers with procedures, perform CLIA-waived lab tests, administer vaccines, and handle related patient communications.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or may have completed structured military training which is clinical in nature per DD214 in lieu of a formal medical assistant program or EMT.
Two years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years (for IL/WI divisions).

Responsibilities

Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies and procedures.
Performs rooming/visit tasks: vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health).
Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
Performs lab duties: venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, lab orders/requisitions, results tracking.
Conducts Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order.
Administers medications and vaccines following medication administration rights.
Maintains clean work environment; ensures equipment and supplies are stocked.
May assist with training onboarding of teammates; may serve on committees.
