Qualifications

• Must have two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport with patients, team members and physicians.
• Proficient with electronic medical records systems and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows policies and procedures, maintains training and competency based on area of specialty.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health).
• Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties: venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, lab orders, results tracking; POCT per standing order; completes CLIA waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines following rights of medication administration.
• Performs other duties: refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory logs, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, scheduling, referrals.
• Demonstrates effective communication, teamwork, appropriate escalation.
• Maintains clean work environment; ensures equipment is in working order and stocked.
• May assist with training/onboarding of teammates; may serve as role champion or on a committee.
• Must provide care appropriate to age of patients; understand growth and development and age-specific needs.
