Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for a full-time OB/GYN faculty setting. The role supports patient care with vitals, history taking, screenings, and phlebotomy, while assisting providers and performing routine lab tasks.

The candidate should have a completed Medical Assistant program or equivalent training, a high school diploma, and BLS certification. 40-hour weeks, with a structured schedule; opportunities for growth exist.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent training.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within MA scope.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, med reconciliation, health history, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties: venipuncture, specimen labeling, POCT per standing orders.
• Administers medications and vaccines following medication rights.
• Handles scheduling, referrals, insurance authorizations and patient messaging.
• Maintains clean, stocked work environment and ensures equipment works.
• May assist with training teammates and participate in committees.
