Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring a Medical Assistant to join our care team in Worcester, MA. The role supports patient intake, vitals, EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and coordination with clinicians in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

The incumbent will maintain medical records, assist with procedures, and ensure accurate processing of referrals and insurance interactions. A High School Diploma, BLS/HS, and MA credential are required, with additional credentialing within a year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• BLS/HS certification required within 3 months of hire if not currently held.
• Medical Assistant credential approved by MA Department of Health within 1 year from hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination rooms and record vital signs per protocol.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and Point of Care tests per clinic standards.
• Assist with injections, routine physicals, and other clinical procedures.
• Review lab results and escalate abnormal findings to clinicians.
• Maintain rooms, equipment, supplies, and documentation in patient records.
• Process prescriptions and refills as directed; coordinate with insurers for pre-authorization.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heart Saver (HS) certification
