Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Sturbridge, MA is seeking a Medical Assistant II to support clinicians in a busy outpatient clinic. Under licensed supervision, you will perform clinical tasks and clerical duties to keep the office running smoothly.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, performing EKGs and phlebotomy, assisting with injections, preparing rooms, updating medical records, and coordinating with insurers for pre-authorizations and scheduling.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heart Saver (HS) certification from AHA or Red Cross; must obtain within 3 months if not available at hire.
• Medical Assistant credential approved by MA Dept. of Health (ARMA, NHA, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and record vitals.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and Point of Care tests.
• Assist with non-intravenous injections as directed.
• Maintain patient records and documentation in EMR.
• Process prescriptions and refills per procedure.
• Coordinate with insurers for pre-authorizations and scheduling.
