Job summary

CommonSpirit Health seeks an OB Technician to support the labor and delivery team, maintaining a sterile environment for birthing mothers and newborns. You will assist with patient care, prep rooms, manage instruments, support deliveries, transport patients, and ensure efficient workflow while adhering to safety protocols.

Requires knowledge of OB procedures, aseptic techniques, and patient care; compassionate, proactive, and calm demeanor is essential for positive birthing outcomes.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• On-the-job scrub tech training with minimum 5 years’ experience.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Set up tables, instruments and supplies for cesarean sections, vaginal deliveries and circumcisions; maintain sterile technique and assist draping.
• Maintain stock and equipment inventories and instrument maintenance per protocol.
• Respond to patient calls; ensure safety and comfort through rounds and environmental safety measures.
• Participate in unit meetings, inservice programs, continuing education, and staff orientation; contribute to quality improvement.
• Record vitals and intake/output; report changes to RN for clinical assessment.
• Perform delegated nursing procedures (e.g., baths, bed making, ice bags, ambulation).
