Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a skilled surgical support technician to assist in Labor & Delivery, obstetric procedures, and patient care under supervision. Responsibilities include sterile setup, specimen collection, ADL assistance, and vitals monitoring.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, accredited surgical tech training, CNA or PCT certification, and CPR within 90 days of hire. This role requires teamwork and attention to patient dignity and comfort.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician training/certification required.
• CPR certification within 90 days of hire required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with obstetric and gynecological surgical procedures, anticipating surgeon needs and maintaining aseptic technique.
• Set up sterile equipment and assist with room turnover and instrument sterilization.
• Collect blood and urine specimens, label, transport, and document observations.
• Assist patients with ADLs and provide basic patient care under supervision.
• Record vital signs, intake/output, and other clinical data; perform point-of-care glucose testing.
• Perform venipuncture, EKGs, Foley care, and basic wound care as directed; initiate CPR when needed.
