Job Summary
Provide assistance during labor, delivery, and recovery; perform surgical scrub duties; maintain supplies; assist in operating room obstetric surgeries; assist nursing staff in deliveries; record vital signs and intake & output; collect urinalysis specimens; perform personal care; prepare, transport, and discharge patients.
Schedule and Shift Details
- Night shift, 0700-2100
- Part‑time (.3) role
- Only one shift per week
- Hospital total bed count: 122; unit bed counts – 3 (Triage), 10 (Postpartum), 3 (LDR)
- Staffing on unit: 6 RN staff
- On‑call requirement: possible, up to 4 times
- No floating to other units
- No weekend coverage required; occasional coverage every 2–3 weekends
- Medication system: Omnicell
- EMR: Cerner and Intellispace
- Perinatal IV teams: none; Lift teams: none; Pharmacy: none
- Phlebotomy available: 2 for the hospital
- Transport team: none; Unit secretary: none
- No intensivist or hospitalist for OB
- Special equipment: Epidural Pump
- Special procedures: C‑Section, newborn circumcision
- Scrubs provided
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Associate’s or Technical Degree or equivalent education and experience preferred
- Surgical Technician or Obstetrical Technician certification preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification required
Essential Functions
- Assist in preparation of patient rooms and sterile supplies; open supplies and set up procedures using aseptic technique
- Assist surgical team during operative procedures, providing supplies and instruments promptly
- Participate in timeout on each case
- Assist nursing staff in deliveries: preparation, positioning, transport, transfer, and discharge as directed
- Collect urinalysis specimens
- Record maternal vital signs, weight, height, and intake & output measurements
- Perform personal care services and assist with activities of daily living for patients
- Prepare, position, transport, transfer, and discharge patients
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned
