Lima Memorial Health System in Lima, OH seeks an Obstetric Surgical Technician to support the Labor and Delivery team during childbirth, performing technical tasks and ensuring a clean, ready delivery environment. You will function as the primary 1st assist and secondary scrub for cesarean deliveries and other cases.

After training, you will join the on-call rotation with 30-minute response time, working 12-hour shifts and varying day schedules to meet patient needs and department guidelines.

Formación

• Graduate of a surgical technology program or LPN program with valid unrestricted license.
• RN student in progress with clinical rotation in nursing program or BSN track.
• Must have completed anatomy and physiology I & II.
• BLS certification required; CNA or Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Experience in OR/OB setting preferred; patient care tech background acceptable.

Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, procedures and policies, the Obstetric Surgical Technician supports the Labor and Delivery team by assisting with the care of patients during childbirth, performing technical tasks, and ensuring the cleanliness and readiness of the delivery environment. This role works closely with nurses, physicians, and midwives, and surgical staff to support safe and efficient obstetric procedures, including vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections. The Obstetric Surgical Technician functions as both the primary (1st assist) and the secondary scrub (Pass) for cesarean deliveries and sterilizations and other cases as requested. Judgments are made based upon clinical skills. Once training is completed, Surg Tech’s will be expected to be part of the on-call rotation in the Family Birth Center. On-call availability is essential within a 30-minute response time. On-call frequency will be determined in accordance with departmental guidelines.

Education: Qualified candidate must meet at least one of the following criteria: Graduate of a surgical technology program, graduate of an LPN program and hold a valid unrestricted LPN license. Will accept an RN student who has completed 2nd quarter or 1st semester clinicals in a nursing associate’s degree or diploma program or is a second-year student in a BSN program. Minimum requirement, candidate must have successfully completed anatomy and physiology 1+2.

Licensure/Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required. Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or Medical Assistant. Certified car seat instructor preferred.

Experience: Previous experience as a Patient Care Tech or Unit Secretary is preferred. One year of experience in an O.R./OB setting preferred.

Skills: Must have excellent “customer service” skills, including the ability to exhibit patience and tact with all constituents including physicians, patients and associates. Must demonstrate flexibility with work schedule changes, be cooperative and collaborative, and have the documented ability to work with speed and proficiency while under stress. Must have basic computer skills and EMR (electronic medical records) experience. Must be able to print and write legibly and accurately.
