Job summary

Piedmont in Stockbridge, Georgia is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Labor and Delivery unit. Responsibilities include handling instruments and supplies during obstetrical operations, anticipating the needs of the surgeon, ensuring quality patient care, and maintaining the sterile field.

Qualified candidates should have a H.S. Diploma or GED, complete surgical technologist training, or possess relevant experience. Basic Life Support certification is required, and Neonatal Resuscitation is preferred.

Qualifications

• BCLS certification upon hire required; NRP preferred.

Job description

Overview

Responsibilities: Responsible for handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the obstetrical operations performed in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Delivery unit. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Qualifications

• Education: H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• Work Experience: Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required or 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required
• Licenses and Certifications: BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required; NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
