Job summary

Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Georgia is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery operating room. You will anticipate the surgeon's needs, maintain a sterile field, and provide instrumental support under the direction of a registered nurse.

Education: GED or equivalent and graduation from a Surgical Technologist program; BCLS certification is required, NRP preferred. Experience in the operating room or direct patient care is expected.

Responsible for handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the obstetrical operations performed in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Delivery unit. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required or
• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or
• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
