Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned Facilities Manager to provide day-to-day onsite facilities management for a large government facility in Washington, DC. You will oversee engineering, custodial, pest control, elevators, and snow/ice removal across approximately half a million square feet and six acres.

Responsibilities include supervising staff and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, maintaining CMMS records, coordinating preventive maintenance, and responding

Qualifications

  • Must have substantial facilities management experience at scale (O&M/CFM).
  • Experience in project management or supervisory roles in complex facility operations.
  • Experience updating and using CMMS for assets, PMs, work orders, inspections, tests and QC.
  • Proficiency with Google Drive and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to implement and enforce Quality Control Programs.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude across HVAC, electrical and plumbing.
  • Ability to read plans and specifications.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes (local, state, federal, and international).
  • Experience with Safety and Quality Control programs and surveillance methods.

  • Oversee managers, supervisors, technicians, custodians, staff and subcontractors.
  • Respond to facility emergencies and be onsite within one hour of notification, with 24/7/365 on-call availability.
  • Ensure onsite staff and subcontractors follow plans, processes, safety and quality requirements.
  • Direct scheduling and completion of preventive maintenance, repairs, project work, and service requests.
  • Maintain program documentation and records for code requirements, contract deliverables and licenses.
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors, including performance reviews and follow‑up actions.
  • Supervise and perform quality control for facility and custodial services teams and subcontractors.
  • Manage proposals for base contractor and additional Services and Order‑Level Materials (OLM).

Job description

  • Provide day-to-day onsite facilities management for a large government facility

  • Respond to facility emergencies and be onsite within one hour of notification, with 24/7/365 on-call availability
  • Ensure onsite staff and subcontractors follow management plans, processes, safety requirements, and quality requirements
  • Direct scheduling and completion of preventive maintenance, repairs, project work, and service requests
  • Resolve conflicts, deficiencies, and issues in accordance with reporting and corrective action requirements
  • Maintain program documentation and records for code requirements, contract deliverables, plans, training, staff certifications and licenses, and permits
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors, including performance reviews and follow‑up actions
  • Supervise and perform quality control for facility and custodial services team members and subcontractors
  • Manage proposals for the base contractor and additional Services and Order‑Level Materials (OLM)
Requirements
  • Minimum 12 years of O&M/CFM facility management experience
  • At least eight years in a project management or supervisory role in facility operations and maintenance of equipment and systems comparable in complexity to systems found at the federal building
  • Experience managing and updating CMMS systems for facility assets, PM schedules, work orders, inspections, testing, maintenance, certificates, and Quality Control
  • Google Drive and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Experience implementing and enforcing Quality Control Programs
  • High level mechanical aptitude in HVAC, Building Engineering, Electrical and Plumbing
  • Ability to read plans and specifications
  • Familiarity with local, state, federal, and international code requirements
  • Working experience with NFPA, EPA, and OSHA codes
  • Experience using CMMS
  • Experience with Safety and Quality Control programs and applicable surveillance methods
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required
  • Preferred: State Trade license (Journeyman, Master, Engineer, Boiler, Backflow, WSSC, etc.)
  • Preferred: District of Columbia Class A-B, & C Underground Storage Tank (UST) Operator Training
  • Preferred: 2 Hour OSHA Compliant Asbestos Awareness Training
