Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced facilities leader to manage HVAC/R and related mechanical systems across multiple sites in the United States. You will develop and enforce SOPs, manage preventive maintenance programs, and drive sustainability initiatives while aligning with regulatory requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3–5 years of facilities management experience, with EPA 608 certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee facilities management operations including HVAC/R, electrical, and mechanical maintenance.
• Develop SOPs and preventive maintenance programs for facilities.
• Oversee budgets, contracts, and vendor performance; track ROI and expenditures.
• Lead cross-functional teams, mentor staff, and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and sustainability initiatives.

Job description

• Direct heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and critical power maintenance and service operations
• Evaluate facility, equipment, airflow, humidity, and system load requirements
• Develop standard operating procedures and facility maintenance inspection and preventive maintenance programs
• Oversee sustainability initiatives and EPA compliance programs
• Resolve scope-of-work issues with vendors, service providers, and contractors
• Provide technical training
• Manage complex projects, work priorities, assignments, workforce needs, inspections, punch lists, material requisitions, and timecards
• Direct regional field operations and track preventive maintenance service completion
• Monitor contractor performance and maintenance costs
• Develop and approve capital expense, staffing, and compensation budgets
• Evaluate return on investment and approve contracts, invoices, purchases, and expenditures
• Maintain project timelines, costs, schedules, materials, equipment, and labor estimates
• Manage department budgets, spending trends, warranties, invoices, and landlord lease compliance
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R industry laws and regulations
• Drive business plans and projects by identifying operational needs, setting performance standards, measuring progress, and removing barriers
• Supervise, select, train, mentor, assign, evaluate, recognize, and coach associates
• Promote company policies, ethics, integrity, compliance, belonging, continuous improvement, and community outreach
• Build collaborative relationships with team members and business partners
• Deliver business results using customer/member insights, data analytics, and an omnichannel mindset

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field and 3 years’ experience in facilities management, construction management, mechanical maintenance, engineering, or related area OR 5 years’ experience in facilities management, construction management, mechanical maintenance, engineering, or related area
• EPA 608 Certification within 90 days of hire
• Preferred: General Maintenance
