Job summary

Amplify is seeking experienced Math Coaches to join our Professional Development team to support the New York City Department of Education for the 2026–2027 school year. The role involves on-site coaching four days a week with the fifth day for planning, typically a 40-hour work week.

You will collaborate with district leaders, design and deliver professional development, and focus on equitable student outcomes across NYC.

Qualifications

• Passionate about mathematics and deep knowledge of problem-based learning.
• Experience leading sustained coaching engagements and professional development for educators in K-5 and/or 6-8.
• Ability to build strong relationships with leaders and educators at various levels.
• 5+ years of K-5 and/or 6-8 math teaching experience with demonstrated results.
• Experience guiding teams through change management processes.
• Experience supporting HQIM implementation across diverse student populations including English Learners.
• Experience collaborating with leaders and teachers on projects.
• Proven time management skills with multiple engagements and priorities.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with technology-based productivity tools, especially Google Apps.
• Willingness to travel locally across New York City (4 days/week).
• Approval clearance through NYC Solves PETS System.

Responsibilities

• Lead classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers and leaders.
• Conduct model lessons and co-teach with classroom teachers.
• Provide office hours for leaders and teachers.
• Support unit/lesson planning with grade-level teams.
• Lead lesson study cycles for teachers.
• Analyze student work and formative data to guide instructional decisions.
• Cultivate model classrooms to elevate best practices for planning and instruction.
• Provide recommendations to enhance equity of learning for diverse student populations including Students with Learning & Thinking Differences and English Learners.
• Seek feedback and adapt practice to improve student outcomes.
• Create or customize professional development experiences as needed.
• Facilitate district-wide professional development sessions (in person and remote).
