Job summary

MedStar Health seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing to lead a defined unit/department, partnering with the Director of Nursing to ensure safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care. This role supervises nursing and support staff, ensures regulatory compliance, and drives quality and safety initiatives while fostering professional growth among associates.

The position requires DC RN licensure, a Bachelor’s in Nursing, 1–2 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, and active CPR/EFM

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited program is required.
1-2 years of progressive nursing care experience is required.
RN licensure in the District of Columbia is required.
CPR certification within 90 days is required.
Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification required within 12 months when in Perinatal units.

Responsibilities

Develops unit/department goals, objectives, policies and procedures and ensures compliance with policies and standards.
Leads staffing, performance management, and professional development of nursing staff.
Maintains unit-level safety, quality, and patient care initiatives and budget oversight.
Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care and smooth patient throughput.
Participates in Magnet or Pathways to Excellence initiatives and hospital committees.
