Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing to join the Division of Nursing leadership. You will support the Director of Nursing and direct unit-based patient care, staff development, and outcomes improvement.

The role drives standards, regulatory compliance, and budget management across shifts to ensure holistic, culturally competent, safe, high-quality care for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited program required.
• Master's degree in Nursing or a health-related field preferred.
• 1-2 years of progressive nursing care experience required; leadership experience preferred.
• RN licensure in District of Columbia required; CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Develops unit/department goals, objectives, policies and procedures and ensures compliance with standards.
• Leads performance management, coaching, and staffing decisions to maintain quality care.
• Oversees budgeting, staffing, and resource availability to support patient care.
• Promotes patient safety, quality improvement, and inter-disciplinary collaboration.
