Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing to partner with the Director of Nursing in directing unit-based patient care. The role leads clinical staff, drives performance, and upholds quality, safety, and regulatory standards across shifts.

The position includes budget oversight, staff development, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and the patient experience, with responsibilities across 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited program.
• Master's degree in Nursing or a health related field from a nationally accredited program preferred.
• 1-2 years of progressive nursing care experience required.
• Leadership and management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and collaborate with Nursing leadership to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Manage unit/department goals, performance evaluations, and staffing needs.
• Oversee budget, regulatory compliance, and quality/safety initiatives.
