Job summary

San Antonio North Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to assist the Director of Nursing in directing licensed and non-licensed personnel who deliver care to residents around the clock.

The ADON will plan, supervise and evaluate nursing services, participate in hiring, training, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions, and act as back-up for the DON and nursing staff. Focus on resident safety, rights, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Must be in good standing with the State Board of Nursing and maintain continuing education/licensing requirements.
• 3-5 years of nurse management experience, preferably in long-term care.

Responsibilities

• Assist DON in planning, developing and supervising nursing staff.
• Assist in development and implementation of nursing services, policies, and procedures.
• Recruit, hire and train nursing staff; participate in appraisals and disciplinary actions.
• Provide back-up for DON, RN and LVN staff; may provide direct resident care as needed.
• Oversee clinical operations, daily rounds and resident condition monitoring.
• Ensure resident safety and uphold resident rights; liaison with physicians and families.
• Attend staff meetings and deliver reports to DON; design and evaluate nursing systems.
