Job summary

BANGS seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing in directing activities of licensed and non-licensed personnel providing 24/7 care to residents. The role requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and a focus on resident safety.

The ADON will assist in planning, developing and supervising nursing services, policies and procedures; recruit and train staff; and act as back-up for DON, RN and LVN staff. May provide direct resident care as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred and licensed to practice.
• 3–5 years of nurse management experience in long-term care preferred.
• Must maintain state nursing licensure and continuing education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing and supervising nursing staff activities.
• Assist in development and implementation of nursing services, policies and procedures.
• Recruit, hire and train nursing staff in coordination with the DON.
• Support employee appraisals and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Act as back-up for the DON, RN and LVN staff and may provide direct resident care.
• Oversee clinical operations, daily rounds and resident condition monitoring.
• Ensure resident safety and respectful treatment; liaise with residents, families and physicians.
• Attend meetings and provide reports/recommendations to the DON.
• Contribute to design and evaluation of nursing systems ensuring quality care.
