Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas West in Nashville, TN seeks a nursing assistant role under RN supervision to provide direct patient care following policies and procedures. You will assist with daily living activities, take vital signs, and observe patients while reporting findings to the preceptor.

The position supports care planning by relaying test results and patient observations, and may include environmental tasks and patient transport for diagnostics as part of a 12-month program for May 2028

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date.
• High school diploma/GED required.
• Must be accepted or enrolled into a Nursing program by hire date and begin classes within 90 days.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Complete assigned nursing orders as directed by the preceptor, including assisting patients with activities of daily living and taking vital signs.

• Observe patient status and responses. Document and report observations to the preceptor or other appropriate staff.

• Assist preceptor with development of care plan by reporting test results and patient observations.

• Perform other tasks as assigned, including environmental services and preparing/transporting patients for diagnostic services.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Must be accepted or enrolled into a Nursing program upon date of hire/transfer and begin classes within 90 days of date of hire/transfer required.

Additional Preferences:

• We are considering May 2028 Graduates and beyond.
• This is a 12 month program where candidates must be in the Nashville, TN area for the duration of the program.
• No summer only internship opportunities.
